Overview

The Umbwe Route is the most challenging and least crowded route up Mount Kilimanjaro, known for its steep ascent and scenic views.

Itinerary

Meet at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to hotel for briefing.

Hike through the dense rainforest to Umbwe Camp (2,850m), about 5-6 hours.

Steep ascent to Barranco Camp (3,950m) through spectacular ridge views, about 4-5 hours.

Climb the Barranco Wall and trek to Karanga Camp (3,995m), about 4 hours.

Continue the ascent to Barafu Camp (4,673m), the base for the summit push.

Midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), followed by descent to Mweka Camp (3,100m).

Final descent to Mweka Gate, followed by transfer to Moshi for celebration and rest.
